Showtime Dance Academy states that its mission is to provide top-quality, age-appropriate dance training in a positive, supportive environment and to be a welcoming, inclusive dance studio where anyone can receive dance training regardless of age, race, religion, gender, size, or ability, with the statement “Dance is for Any Body!” The curriculum is described as surpassing California State Educational Standards and uses safe, developmentally sound technique rooted in classical ballet tradition. Instruction includes artistry, self-expression, dance history, biomechanics, anatomy, and the etiquette of a proper ballet class, including respect for self, studio, instructor, and peers. Each month has a new creative theme, with topics such as Body Awareness and Movement Initiation; Spatial Awareness: Changing Level, Direction, or Pathway in Space; Use of Energy: Strong vs Light and the four basic qualities of movement; and Creative Self-Expression and Emotional Intelligence, which are described as building blocks of choreography that educate the whole dancer, body and mind. The program states that it values technique, artistry, and the love of dance over competition, and that music, costumes, and choreography will always be age-appropriate and family-friendly.
Showtime Dance has been sharing the “JOY of Dance” with Orange County children since 2001. Showtime Dance Company was founded by Carrie Render in Lake Forest, CA in 2001, and “Miss Sarah” bought Showtime Dance in 2013. In January 2022, Showtime Dance Academy opened its doors in the Downtown Santa Ana Arts District. The program notes that its nonprofit professional dance company, Showtime Contemporary Ballet of Santa Ana, is a local ballet company and a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that produces The Santa Ana Nutcracker, outreach classes, and other high-caliber performances.
The program states that its teachers are college educated with years of teaching experience. Showtime Dance has been bringing dance directly to preschools and elementary schools throughout Orange County since 2001 through school dance programs. It also began working with Outschool.com to keep children dancing at home. Awards and recognitions listed include BEST BALLET SCHOOL IN SANTA ANA 2025, BEST DANCE SCHOOL IN SANTA ANA 2022, and BEST DANCE INSTRUCTION IN LAKE FOREST 2015.
