California Learning Center is a full-service tutoring, test preparation, and college counseling center. The program offers academic tutoring, individual tutoring for students ages 6 and up, test preparation for exams such as the SAT, AP, GED, and HISET, and supervised test proctoring services for a variety of tests, including those for distance and e-learners.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Monday–Friday (hours vary), with many weekend openings; Heartland students have a 12-hour weekly tutoring limit
The California Learning Center has been in Santa Barbara since 1984 and is an independent, locally owned business. Local educator Wendi Ostroff has been the owner and director since 2013. The program is based on meeting the individual needs of every student. It serves students from San Luis Obispo to Ventura, including Santa Barbara, Montecito, Goleta, Carpinteria, Summerland, and the Santa Ynez Valley, and also tutors students across the USA and internationally via Zoom. Testimonials from parents and students describe Wendi and the tutors as listening to families, accommodating busy schedules, and providing ACT preparation that included strategic tools for pacing during the exam.
