About

CALM Parent Education & Support and Home Visitation Services offers parent education and support, home visitation, and therapy for children, parents, and families. Parent education and support provides guidance to help parents and caregivers of children 10 years and younger strengthen parenting skills, improve family relationships, and create safe, nurturing environments for children. Home visitation provides in-home support for parents and caregivers of children under one year old, including prenatally, promoting healthy development, strengthening bonding, and connecting families to community resources, and therapy delivers evidence-based mental health services for children, parents, and families to address trauma, behavioral challenges, and emotional well-being.

CALM Parent Education & Support and Home Visitation Services is part of a continuum of care that includes individual therapy, home visitation, parenting classes, postpartum support, group therapy and support, and mental health consultation in early education settings. CALM offers 17 proven types of treatment and serves more than 3,000 children and families annually, with 78% of admitted clients in prevention programs and 22% in treatment programs. Services are provided in English, Spanish, or a family’s preferred language, and CALM offers services for children, youth, parents and caregivers (including prenatally), and community-based providers. CALM’s mission is to prevent childhood trauma, heal children and families, and build resilient communities throughout Santa Barbara County, and the organization reports 75 collaborations with local organizations. CALM has been recognized as a California Nonprofit of the Year in 2024–25.
