Office of Education Partnerships K-20 Programs includes the Math Engineering Science Achievement (MESA) program, which fosters early interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The program prepares middle and high school students for college STEM majors and provides high school students with personalized, knowledgeable guidance on college admissions requirements, financial aid, and enrollment. It also provides college students with tools, resources, and support to earn STEM degrees, be competitive for graduate school, and be career-ready for corporate industry employment, along with early research experiences and professional and leadership development for STEM students from local community colleges and UCSB.

The mission of Office of Education Partnerships K-20 Programs is to increase college-going rates for students who are from educationally, economically, and geographically challenged schools. The programs offer a wide range of K-20 options for students from educationally, economically, and geographically challenged institutions, with a common goal of increasing students’ access and success in higher education and increasing college-going rates in its regional footprint. The office delivers programs that support student success in collaboration with K12, California community colleges, and university partners in the K-20 pipeline, and it builds capacity, leadership, and tools that support student achievement and address achievement gaps. It promotes coordination and collaboration across the campus’ academic preparation and outreach programs by providing staff time, evaluation support, and funding for affiliated efforts, and it nurtures communities of practitioners that exchange best practices and identify shared goals and opportunities for collaboration. The office designs, implements, and evaluates programs that increase college-going rates among students in K12 and higher education in its region, and it is involved in programs and initiatives that UCSB supports in schools and communities across Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Kern counties, in collaboration with local, state, and national partners.
