About
Santa Barbara Youth Football League offers tackle football for youth players. The program is the home of the SAINTS and is part of the Gold Coast Youth Football League, which is described as “The Most Competitive League in SB.” Today, Santa Barbara Youth Football League fields between 6–8 teams in 6 divisions for youth between 6 and 14 years of age.
• Ages: 6–14 years old
In 1971, Jim Halliburton envisioned a football league that would bring the excitement and enjoyment of full contact football to the youth of Santa Barbara's south coast. In the last 50 years, some 20,000 players have played for Santa Barbara Youth Football League, competing alongside teams from El Rio, Carpinteria, the Santa Ynez Valley and Southern Santa Barbara County. The league has been active for over five decades.
The league states that coaching experience is helpful but not required. It endeavors to teach youth the values of commitment, teamwork, sportsmanship, endurance, physical conditioning, leadership and a winning spirit.
After completing registration, participants must prepare a physical form completed and stamped, valid through November 2026, and a player application filled out completely. New players must provide a birth certificate or passport. Divisions are assigned based on age and league guidelines. The league is waitlisting at 23 players per team, and once a team reaches 23 players, 12–14 year olds as of 7/31 will need to register on the waitlist. The league’s website is powered by SportsEngine's Sports Relationship Management (SRM) software and is subject to the Santa Barbara Youth Football League privacy policy.
