Santa Barbara Youth Football League offers youth football with a focus on tackle football. The program is home of the SAINTS and fields multiple youth football teams in organized divisions.
• Ages: 6–14 years old
In the last 50 years, some 20,000 players have played for Santa Barbara Youth Football League, competing alongside teams from El Rio, Carpinteria, the Santa Ynez Valley and Southern Santa Barbara County. Today, Santa Barbara YFL fields between 6–8 teams in 6 divisions for youth between 6 and 14 years of age. The league’s stated mission is to teach values of commitment, teamwork, sportsmanship, endurance, physical conditioning, leadership and a winning spirit.
The leadership team includes Jim Halliburton, Coach Rich, and Matt and Kerri Boeddeker. Coaching experience is helpful but not required for those involved in coaching. The league is part of the Gold Coast Youth Football League, which is described as “The Most Competitive League in SB.” The program is currently waitlisting at 23 players per team, and once a team reaches 23 players, players who are 12–14 years old as of 7/31 register on the waitlist, with the note that there will most likely be two teams for the older divisions.
After completing registration, participants must prepare a physical form completed and stamped, valid through November 2026, and a player application filled out completely. New players must provide a birth certificate or passport, and divisions are assigned based on age and league guidelines rather than by registering directly for a specific division.
