The Outdoor School at Rancho Alegre offers hands-on outdoor environmental and STEM educational activities in a 4 day, 3 night overnight program. Students take part in hiking and exploring nature as they extend their learning beyond the classroom walls through these activities.

The Outdoor School at Rancho Alegre is a program of Los Padres Council BSA and is described as a unique overnight environmental education program serving the Central Coast. It has been serving the Central Coast for 50 years. The mission of The Outdoor School at Rancho Alegre is to guide students to extend their curriculum from textbooks to the enriching outdoor classroom experience. The program is described as an immersive program that fosters curiosity, exploration and a deep connection to nature, with students immersed in hands-on outdoor environmental and STEM educational activities and opening doors to self-discovery, science, learning new skills and forging friendships that last a lifetime. The restoration of The Outdoor School has been one of the driving factors in rebuilding Rancho Alegre.
