The Outdoor School at Rancho Alegre

The Outdoor School at Rancho Alegre offers hands-on outdoor environmental and STEM educational activities, including hiking and exploring nature. In this unique learning environment, 5th and 6th grade students explore beyond the classroom walls through these activities. The program includes 4 day, 3 night programs that guide students to extend their curriculum from textbooks to an outdoor classroom experience, opening doors to self-discovery, science, learning new skills and forging friendships that last a lifetime. The Outdoor School is a program of Los Padres Council BSA and is a unique overnight environmental education program.

The Outdoor School at Rancho Alegre has been serving the Central Coast for 50 years, and the restoration of The Outdoor School is one of the driving factors behind the push to rebuild Rancho Alegre. The mission statement for the program is: “Discover the wonders of outdoor education at Rancho Alegre. Sign up today for our immersive program that fosters curiosity, exploration and a deep connection to nature.” The Outdoor School, a program of Los Padres Council BSA, offers personal tours upon request.
