About
The Westmont College Volleyball Summer Elite Prospect Camp includes gym sessions where athletes train using the same coaching methods and in the same facilities the Westmont College Volleyball team uses. Campers interact with current coaches, players, and volleyball alumni, and residential campers live in the dorms students stay in during the school year and eat in the dining commons. The camp also includes a group meeting with recruiting information and an admissions meeting, a campus tour, a player panel with current Westmont players, and a meeting with an admissions counselor.

• Schedule: July 10–12, 2026 (Friday through Sunday)
• Price: Cost: $575 Residential (includes food and lodging); $475 Commuter/ Day Camper (does not include food and lodging).
On Day 1, the schedule runs from a 2:00–3:00pm check-in, followed by a 3:30–5:15pm gym session, 5:30–6:15pm dinner, a 6:30–7:30pm group meeting with recruiting and admissions information, a 7:30–9:00pm gym session, 9:00–10:30pm shower and free time, and 10:30pm lights out. On Day 2, activities include 8:00–8:30am breakfast, a 9:00–11:15am gym session, an 11:15am–12:00pm campus tour, 12:00–1:30pm lunch and free time, a 1:30–3:00pm player panel with current Westmont players, a 3:00–5:15pm gym session, 5:30–6:15pm dinner, 6:15–7:00pm free time, a 7:00–8:30pm gym session, 8:30–10:00pm free time, and 10:30pm lights out. On Day 3, the schedule includes 8:00–8:30am breakfast, 8:30–9:00am pack up, a 9:00–11:30am gym session, and 11:30am–12:00pm checkout. Each camper receives a camp t-shirt and verbal feedback from all coaches throughout the course of the camp, and day campers are invited to do everything an overnight camper does without the meals and overnight stay in the dorms.
The camp is designed for top volleyball athletes that want to pursue being a volleyball player at Westmont College and is geared towards girls only, entering grades 10 through 12, and junior college transfers. The program is described as both informative and helpful as participants explore college options. For overnight camp, suggested items include a sleeping bag or sheets and blanket, pillow with case, two towels, volleyball shoes, knee pads, six pairs of spandex, six pairs of socks, six t-shirts to play in, a sweatshirt, sweat pants, pajamas, an alarm clock, toiletries, and any other needed personal items. A day camper does not receive meals or overnight stay in the dorms, and Santa Barbara is listed as the best airport to fly into, with campers arranging their own transportation to and from the airport.
Camp Director and Head Coach Ruth McGolpin leads the Westmont College Volleyball team and is in her eighth year as head coach. In her first year as head coach in 2019, she guided the team to a 31–8 overall record, a Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) Co-Regular Season Championship, a GSAC Tournament Championship, and a #2 finish in the NAIA National Championship Tournament. In her second year, the team went 15–2, won the GSAC West Championship, advanced to the NAIA National Tournament, and ended the year ranked #10 in the nation, and she was named GSAC Co-Coach of the Year and All-Southwest Region Coach of the Year. In her third season, the team finished 20–11 and advanced to the NAIA Championship tournament, and in her final season in the NAIA, she guided the team to a 24–7 record, a GSAC Regular Season Championship, and a top 12 finish at the NAIA National Championships. In the program’s first year in NCAA Division II (2023), she guided her team to a 12–15 overall record; in 2024, she guided her team to a 14–12 overall record; and in 2025, she guided her team in the PacWest to a 6th place overall finish, for an overall head coaching record of 128–69 over seven years. Previously, she served as an assistant in the Westmont College Volleyball program for four seasons and was named Assistant Coach of the Year twice (2016, 2018), has coached at the University of California, Santa Barbara and other NCAA Division I and II programs, and served as Club Director for the Santa Barbara Volleyball Club for four seasons prior to her departure in 2022.
