• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Price: The goal of SCPAL is to provide sports activities at a low cost to all children.
The Santa Clara Police Activities League (SCPAL) was founded by Former Chief of Police Frank Sapena in 1970 and has been in existence for over 48 years. SCPAL is a nonprofit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service. SCPAL depends solely on donations from individuals and corporations, and the SCPAL Board of Directors holds many fund-raisers to help provide necessary equipment, uniforms and insurance. SCPAL is a nonprofit organization dedicated to teaching youth the values and rewards that can be accomplished through athletics: self-determination, self-belief, goal-setting, teamwork, and respect for others.
The leadership team includes CHIEF OF POLICE – Cory Morgan; EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – Officer David Machado; SCPAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS: PRESIDENT – K. Mike Walke; VICE PRESIDENT – Mary Ellen Stewart; TREASURER – Dan Racimo; SECRETARY – Ana Vargas Smith; BOARD MEMBERS: Brian Allen, John Boyles, Tim Frazier, Linda Leca, Fred Maguire, Daniel Meyberg, Kevin Moore, Christian Pellecchia, Cheryl Walsh, Kathy Watanabe, Deana Wynne; HONORARY BOARD MEMBERS: John Elwood, Richard Rossi, Larry Wolfe; CITY COUNCIL MEMBER – LIAISONS Mayor Lisa Gillmor; and ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT: Victoria (Tori) Enos. The goal was to bring Police, neighborhood volunteers, and kids together in a positive setting. The community looks forward to annual fund-raising events, which benefit these programs, including the 4th of July BBQ in Central Park Pavilion, the Annual SCPAL Golf Tournament, the PAL-GALs Girls Fast Pitch Softball Tournament, and the Art and Wine Festival at Central Park.
