About
Silhouette Dance Studio offers classes in classical ballet, ballroom, folk dance, jazz, modern dance, pre-ballet, social ballroom in the form of formation dance, lyrical, contemporary, creative movement, introduction to dance, spirit of dance, and ballroom dancing. The program includes groupings such as Tiny, Mini, Pre-Bravo, Bravo, Pre-Teens, Teens, Juniors, and Seniors, with instruction organized by level for work on creative movements, rhythm, and coordination. For new students, Silhouette Dance Studio offers a free introductory lesson, and a first free trial class is offered to ensure the child is comfortable with the environment and teaching style.

• Price: Class tuition for children of ages 4–6 years (45-minute class) is $80 for 4 classes per month, $150 for 8 classes per month, or $25 per drop-in class; for ages 7–14 years (1-hour class) it is $100 for 4 classes per month, $180 for 8 classes per month, or $30 per drop-in class.
Tiny (3–4 years old) meets Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10:00–11:00am for 45 minutes, and Mini (5–6 years old) meets Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10:00–11:00am for 60 minutes. Pre-Bravo (7–8 years old) meets Monday and Friday from 4:00–5:00pm, and Bravo (9–10 years old) meets Thursday from 5:00–6:00pm. Pre-Teens (11–12 years old) meet Saturday from 12:15–1:15pm, Teens (13–14 years old) meet Monday and Friday from 5:00–6:00pm, and both Juniors (15–16 years old) and Seniors (17 years old and up) meet Saturday from 11:15am–12:15pm. An adult ballroom class is offered by invitation only and focuses on bringing joy during performance on stage and being part of a dance theater production. If a current student brings a friend, the family receives 25% off one month’s tuition, and the teaching style is described as adaptable to all students.
Artistic Director and Choreographer Irina Mantel graduated with honors from the Choreography College of Tashkent City in 1981 and worked at Tashkent Musical Theater from 1981 to 1996. She has traveled extensively through Russia, Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, and Litva, and since immigrating to the United States in 1997, she has worked for ten years as a ballet instructor and choreographer at various dance studios in the Bay Area. Valeriy Mantel, the Art Production Manager and Audio Engineer, has extensive knowledge of staging production based on his background at Tashkent Musical Theater as a musician of the orchestra. The studio’s stated mission is to offer social dance classes for all skill levels, recognize dance talent at all levels, and provide coaching for first-timers, casual beginners, and aspiring professional dancers, with a foundation built on a flexible, family-oriented platform in a non-judgmental and nurturing environment.
