Umoja Track Club is a youth track and field team where athletes take part in track and field practices and attend track meets. The program includes regular practices during the season and participation in a variety of organized track meets.
• Ages: 7–18 years old
• Schedule: Regular season from February through June, with practice running from February through July; practices are held on weekday evenings and Saturday mornings, and athletes may compete in Regional Championships and National Junior Olympic Championships in July if they qualify
Umoja Track Club was founded in 2001 by Ron Robinson and Brunet Lux and has been serving the diverse South Bay community for more than two decades. The club’s leadership includes Head Coach Brunet Lux and Assistant Coaches Beto Lomax, Viktor Spalek, James Miles, Veronika Spalekova, Fane Williams, Kintina Edouard, Roan Nicholson, and Maya Little. The mission of Umoja Track Club is to empower young athletes to reach their full potential on and off the track by teaching the fundamentals of track and field and fostering continuous skill development, while instilling values and life skills for use throughout their lives. The club welcomes athletes at all levels, has a diverse group of athletes ages 7 to 18, and many athletes have competed in and qualified for the National Junior Olympics at the end of July. No practice is mandatory, the club does not offer a separate summer program but accepts late registration, and no activity is planned in August. The team typically participates in specific track meets including Sac Speed Showcase (Sacramento), East Bay Heat (Oakland), Hercules Running Rebels (Hercules), PAAF SJ Citywide (San Jose), 3M (Oakland), LA Jets (Cerritos), Central Valley (Modesto), NorCal Youth (San Jose), Pacific Association Junior Olympics, and National Junior Olympics.
