Since 1978, Canyons Aquatic Club of Santa Clarita, California, has provided swim lessons and competitive swimming and has grown into one of the largest swim clubs in Southern California, with over 500 members at various competitive levels ranging from novice and introductory levels through nationally ranked competitors. New swimmers ages 4–12 begin in the Swim School to develop the four strokes and learn fundamentals in a safe and fun environment, and experienced swimmers ages 5–18 participate in competitive swimming as a team through USA Swimming. Canyons Aquatic Club is a primarily youth-based sports swimming program with a mission that includes offering a safe, healthy, and positive family atmosphere that celebrates success through its team values, and it trains swimmers from the novice level to Olympian while treating each athlete with the belief that each has unlimited potential.

The current head coach of the club is Kyle Hastings, and prior notable head coaches include Kevin Nielsen (2019–2022), Coley Stickels (2013–2017), Jeff Conwell (2005–2012), Bruce Patmos (1989–2005), Jennifer Salles-Cunha (approximately 1987–1989), Steve Neale (approximately 1985–1987), Steve Schomber (approximately 1985), Fernando (approximately 1984), and Jerry and Joe Walsh (approximately 1978–1984). As of 2000, Canyons Aquatic Club had produced a U.S. Olympic team alternate, four USA national titlists, two U.S. Olympic Festival selections, and numerous high school All-Americans; in 2010 five swimmers qualified for the Conoco Phillips National Championships, and in 2012 the club sent seven swimmers to the United States Swimming Olympic Trials, the most in club history, sustaining an Olympic tradition of high performance at national and international competitions.

Canyons Aquatic Club works with the City of Santa Clarita and Los Angeles County in providing facilities for the club and supports community outreach programs to have a positive impact on the Santa Clarita Valley. For families attending practices, 12 and under athletes must be escorted into the pool and signed in, there is no poolside pick-up, and parents are instructed to park only in designated lots and not in staff lots or at curbs, following specific parking and drop-off guidelines that include using visitor parking passes and avoiding parking drop-off in front of College of the Canyons.
