About
LAVA North Summer Program offers multi-day camps, skills workshops, clinics, youth development classes, stand-alone clinics, training pods, bi-weekly workshops, youth programs, position academies, club volleyball, and beach training. The program also includes cross-training on beach for indoor players and youth and juniors development programs for both girls and boys.
• Ages: 8–18 years old
• Schedule: The Summer Program at LAVA North includes all offerings in June, July, and August that are not part of the club volleyball season, with options such as one-day skill clinics (75–90 minutes), multi-day half-day or full-day camps (2–5 hours), multi-week training pods and youth programs, and bi-weekly workshops that meet two days per week for 75 minutes per day.
LAVA North has been successfully serving the Santa Clarita community since 2011, and the Los Angeles Volleyball Academy (LAVA) was established in 2010. The organization is a youth and juniors club volleyball organization for girls and boys with multiple locations in and around Los Angeles and fields more than 100 teams annually across age divisions for girls ages eight to eighteen. SMBC Boys Volleyball Club, established in 1982, is one of the oldest volleyball clubs for boys in the country and fields almost twenty teams annually across age divisions for boys age ten to eighteen. The Beach Program offers elite club-level beach training, cross-training on beach for indoor players, and youth and juniors development programs for girls through LAVA Beach and for boys through SMBC Beach.
The LAVA North Summer Program is based out of an exclusive three-court facility. LAVA North leadership includes LAVA North Director Sia Irilian, Beach Director David Callis, and former Olympian and AVP professional Casey Patterson, with club leadership and key administrators including Nabil Mardini (Director, Principal), Sheldon Sheehy (Billing Manager), Candice Tunis (Registrations Manager/Travel Coordinator), Trevor Julian (Director, Principal), and Samantha Calisto (Recruiting Director). According to its mission statement, LAVA’s primary goal is to develop the finest youth and junior athletes and coaches in the region, with an emphasis on talent, technical mastery, volleyball acumen, competitiveness, work ethic, mental toughness, and passion for the game, and it states that it is built around notions of family, loyalty, dedication, and reliability and that it strives to develop quality female athletes and remarkable young women.
