Junebug’s Gym is led by June (Junebug) Ralston. The stated mission is to create a place where children experience a fun-filled adventure in movement, with staff who encourage growth of large motor skills and gymnastics along with social, emotional, and cognitive development, and to help children feel control and empowerment in their bodies, build self-esteem through success, open up imaginations, and feel confidence and joy in their exploration of movement. Junebug’s Gym provides gymnastics and fitness for children in Santa Cruz and surrounding areas.
To participate in classes or events at Junebug’s Gym, families must create an iClass Pro account, complete a signed digital waiver from a parent or legal guardian, and enroll with Auto-Pay and payment information for recurring billing. A membership is required to purchase Punch Passes for Inchworm classes and Open Gym, and pre-registration with full payment is required for all Inchworm and Open Gym sessions; cancellations need at least 24 hours’ notice for a refund, with less than 24 hours’ notice resulting in a credit, and same-day or no-call/no-show fees being non-refundable. Students in monthly classes may schedule one make-up class per month for once-a-week enrollment and two make-ups for twice-a-week enrollment, with at least one hour’s notice needed to earn a make-up token, which must be used within 30 days and cannot be transferred or resold. Parents are asked to bring a water bottle for their child, and a water station with cups is available; children are asked not to wear jeans, dresses, tights, jewelry, or costumes (except at the annual Halloween Open House) and instead wear comfortable, loose clothing with clean bare feet or grippy socks, with leotards, sweatpants, and T-shirts available for purchase at the gym. Birthday parties at Junebug’s Gym include 1 hour of gymnastic activities such as music, dance, an obstacle course, parachute play, and zip-line time, plus 45 minutes of party time in the Party Room, and extra gym floor time can be reserved in advance pending availability. Babies Night Out is for children crawling up to 3 years of age and does not include dinner, Parent’s Night Out is offered two nights a month, and a free trial class is available upon request for tuition-based classes (not for drop-in Inchworm classes or Open Gym). Inchworm classes and Open Gyms are the only drop-in options, a 360° virtual tour is available, gift certificates can be purchased as Junebug’s Gym Gift Certificates, and classes are not drop-in unless noted, so parents are asked to create an iClass Pro account, register their child, and call to check availability for a free trial class where it applies.
