About
The Painted Cork Classes and Events offers painting and crafting classes where participants can paint their pet in any color imaginable or in a realistic fashion, take part in Date Night painting with pre-drawn paired canvases available on request, and join general painting and crafting classes. The program also offers themed sessions such as Shamrock Reflections, Misty Morning Lighthouse, Intro to Oil Painting with Toaa Dallo! ~ Big Sky, and Cooking Class with Bridgette Andersen ~ Emerald Coast Supper!, as well as an Open Workshop ~ Create What You Want! where participants can choose from painting or crafting selections with written lesson plans and videos in a DIY format. The Painted Cork also provides virtual painting lessons, home painting kits such as Paint your Pet kits, Classic canvas kits, and Bottle Painting Kits, with written lesson plans, and uses acrylic paint so that paintings are ready to take home within minutes after class.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: All materials and 2–3 hours of professional instruction are included in each class.
The Painted Cork Classes and Events is led by founder, owner, and operator Kimberly Godinho, a California artist and art instructor with a bachelor's degree in fine art from the Ringling School of Art and Design, which she received with honors in 1999. She has over 30 years of teaching and painting experience, has sold artwork and held shows in multiple states, and has completed many commissioned projects as a portrait artist, muralist, and children's book illustrator while teaching art to children and adults for over 30 years. The studio is a family-owned business and was the first official “Paint and Sip” style art studio to open in California in 2010, with locations established in Folsom in 2010, Midtown Sacramento in 2013, and Santa Cruz in 2018 before moving into a large warehouse space on Delaware Ave after the 2020 pandemic. Professional artists arrive 2 hours before every class to complete preliminary drawings on canvases, with an option for participants to request a blank canvas instead, and music is played throughout classes with song requests taken. The studio’s mission states that it is a fun and unique space with a lively social atmosphere where talented artists guide participants step-by-step through the painting of the day or night, with no painting “rules” and complete freedom for participants to make their artwork uniquely theirs. The Painted Cork offers onsite public events, private parties at the studio and at guest homes, private virtual parties, and studio rentals, and asks participants to arrive 20–30 minutes early to check in, pick seats, and get comfortable, with breaks built into classes for paint to dry and for guests to refill their cups. Kimberly Godinho received various awards and scholarships while at the Ringling School of Art and Design, including the New York Studio Residency Program.
