BollyPop Kids Dance Classes offers group lessons, private lessons, kids choreography, Mommy & Me, dance fitness, choreography, yoga, special assembly performances, and follow-along workshops. Kids BollyPop uses Indian film, classical, and folk music, and classes work on gaining flexibility by practicing yoga at the beginning of each class. The Mommy & Me class brings together generations to celebrate culture and is described as being like a Bollywood Dance Party and an incredible multicultural experience.

• Schedule: Weekly kids classes grouped by age, with 60-minute BollyPop Dance Fitness and 60-minute BollyPop Choreography Class options
BollyPop Kids Dance Classes was founded by Aakansha Maheshwari, who spent over a decade training in Indian classical Bharatanatyam under Guru Geeta Chandran, has performed across India, worked as one of the choreographers on Disney’s Freakier Friday, and is known for performing and leading big crowds at color festivals across the US and Canada. Instructors include Madhavi Narayanan, who started training at age 3 in ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical, later trained in Bharatanatyam and completed her Arangetram in 2013 and has taught dance in India, Morocco, and South Africa; Sarika Nayak, who trained for around 12 years in Odissi and has conducted workshops at Repertory Dance Theatre, Salt Lake Community College, Birmingham University, UVU – Salt Lake, and Granite School District; Isha Patel, who trained for around 10 years in Bharatanatyam and folk dance and has choreographed Indian folk dances for NMIMS University and several non-profits in India; and Ishika Muchhal, who holds a BFA in Acting from CalArts, has trained in many styles of classical and contemporary dance and singing, and is a California Arts Council “Individual Artist Fellow.” Aakansha’s stated mission for Kids BollyPop is to bring Indian dance to all in a fun and approachable way, using joyful Indian music so kids learn and understand the culture of India through the art form and grow into strong dancers with good posture, technique, grace, and confidence. The program also brings Indian dance to schools and universities through special assembly performances and follow-along workshops to celebrate AAPI month, Diwali, Holi, Eid, and many other South Asian festivals, and through an 8–10 week artist-in-residence program.
