Pepperwood Community Education

Pepperwood Community Education offers classes, workshops, art exhibits, membership events, volunteer workdays, and private guided hikes. Families can choose from specific activities such as the April, May, and June Volunteer Workdays, a Full Moon Hike, and a Sunset Celebration. The program also includes nature-focused events like Wildflower Hike: Forest & Ridge, Wildflower Driving Tour, Wildflower Walk: Meandering Meadow, Explorer Circle: Pond Life Safari, Butterflies of Pepperwood, and Bats in Our Ecosystem, as well as arts and family programs such as Painting, Drawing, and Poetry: an exploratory arts workshop, Nature Together with Kids: Pond Exploration / Exploración del estanque, and Nature Together with Kids: Family Open House / Reserva de puertas abiertas para familias.

Pepperwood Community Education states a mission of offering engaging environmental education opportunities for all ages to inspire a deep-rooted ethic of conservation in the North Bay area. Access to Pepperwood is available through its education offerings, membership program, community events, and volunteer opportunities, and the preserve is only open to the public through these community education offerings, the volunteer program, and membership events. The reserve is a 3,200-acre preserve that serves as a refuge for over 900 species of plants and animals, focuses on long-term ecological monitoring, and generates scientific data that supports natural resource management and conservation planning. Pepperwood’s reserve lies within the traditional homeland of the Wappo people, and one piece is authored by Clint McKay (Pomo, Wappo, Wintun). For all activities, families are asked to leave pets at home for their well-being and that of the wildlife.
