About
Julie Nation Academy offers personal development, professional modeling, adult express modeling, T.V. commercial and film acting, and a children's modeling and T.V. acting workshop. The academy also offers a Professional Modeling Program for preteens and teens and a Model & Talent Showcase.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Classes available on Saturdays between 9:00am and 5:00pm, plus a Tuesday evening option
Julie Nation Academy was founded in 1972 and is independently owned by long-term Santa Rosa resident Julie Nation, a former model and actor. The mission of Julie Nation Academy is to enhance each student’s self-respect, to help them value and appreciate personal character, and strengthen their ability to make positive choices in their lives. The staff and faculty are described as highly educated, dynamic individuals, many of whom are active professionals in modeling, acting, singing, and dance, and each staff member holds degrees and qualifications as active professionals. The academy is described as award-winning, and its career and personalized education are held in high regard by agents, casting directors, and leaders in the fashion and entertainment industries.
The academy is independently owned and not a franchise, and it refers students and graduates to Bay Area and Los Angeles agents for potential registration and employment. The Model & Talent Showcase offers students and participants from across the United States and internationally the opportunity to perform before a panel of agents and industry leaders, and the Casting Department offers students and graduates local opportunities to build their resumes. Trainings include self-esteem, posture and carriage, public speaking, etiquette, and specialized career skills in modeling and acting, with each age level’s training specially designed rather than using one uniform format, and the programs are described as helping develop life skills. Individually designed schedules are available for the Professional Modeling Program for Preteens/Teens, and a free in-person appointment is available by booking, with visits by appointment arranged by phone or email.
Julie Nation Academy is locally owned and operated with connections throughout California and nationally, and community service and involvement is described as a top priority. The academy has provided volunteers and/or fundraising support for a wide range of organizations and events, including Schools Plus, Social Advocates for Youth, Girl Scouts of America, The Living Room, Santa Rosa Rotary West, Santa Rosa Rose Parade, Sebastopol Apple Blossom Parade, Petaluma Butter & Egg Days Parade, The Human Race, Sonoma County’s Task Force for the Homeless, Sonoma County Museum, Quinceaneras Magazine Expo, Sonoma County Humane Society, Santa Rosa Plaza, Pacific Coast Air Museum, Macy’s in Santa Rosa Plaza and Coddingtown, guest speaking for schools and Sonoma State University, Windsor High School’s FIDM Fashion Club, and the Sonoma State University Alumni Association.
