About
Julie Nation Academy offers classes in personal development, professional modeling, adult express modeling, T.V. commercial and film acting, children’s modeling and T.V. acting, and a professional modeling program for preteens and teens. The Academy also holds a Model & Talent Showcase where students and participants from across the United States and internationally perform their skills before a panel of agents and industry leaders.

• Schedule: Class options on Wednesdays evenings and Saturdays during the day, with the Academy open on Saturdays from 9:00am–5:00pm
Personal development and professional modeling classes are held on Saturdays from 11:00am–1:00pm, adult express modeling meets on Wednesdays from 6:00pm–8:00pm, T.V. commercial and film acting meets on Saturdays from 9:00am–11:00am, and children’s modeling and T.V. acting for ages 5–9 meets on Saturdays from 10:00am–11:00am. The professional modeling program for preteens and teens is taught on Saturdays from 11:00am–1:00pm, and individually designed schedules are available for this program. Trainings cover self-esteem, posture and carriage, public speaking, etiquette, and specialized career skills in modeling and acting, and programs are described as helping develop life skills. Registration is open for new classes, and a free in-person appointment is available by calling or emailing.
Julie Nation Academy was founded in 1972 and is independently owned and locally operated by long-term Santa Rosa resident Julie Nation, a former model and actor. The Academy is not a franchise and is described as an award-winning academy, with local connections throughout California and nationally. The staff and faculty are described as highly educated and dynamic, with many active professionals in modeling, acting, singing, and dance, and each staff member holds degrees and qualifications as active professionals, with histories at the Academy ranging from 2 to 22 years.
The Academy’s mission is to enhance each student’s self-respect, to help them value and appreciate personal character, and to strengthen their ability to make positive choices in their lives. The Academy refers students and graduates to Bay Area and Los Angeles agents for potential registration and employment, and its Casting Department offers students and graduates local opportunities to build their resumes. Community service and involvement is described as a top priority, and in its recent past the Academy has provided volunteers and/or fundraising for organizations and events including Schools Plus, Social Advocates for Youth, Girl Scouts of America, The Living Room, Santa Rosa Rotary West, several local parades and community races, Sonoma County’s Task Force for the Homeless, Sonoma County Museum, Quinceaneras Magazine Expo, Sonoma County Humane Society, local malls and museums, guest speaking at schools and Sonoma State University, Windsor High School’s FIDM Fashion Club, and the Sonoma State University Alumni Association.
