M&M Surfing School

M&M Surfing School offers surf lessons where students learn the fundamentals of surfing and water safety. The program provides 3 hour lessons, private lessons, summer camp options, and surf parties. All classes include equipment and safety instruction for both first-timers and experienced surfers.

• Price: All surf lessons include free use of equipment. Use provided surfboard and wetsuit if you do not already have your own.

M&M Surfing School is a family business that has been teaching and mentoring surf school students from around the world since 1995. The owners, Michael Pless (founder and owner) and Michael Pless Jr. (owner), state that they opened the school to share their love of surfing and to help people learn to surf with an appreciation for the ocean. Michael Sr. worked for 41 years as a respiratory therapist, is certified in advanced life support, and was part of a trauma and transport team. Michael Jr. joined the Navy, specialized in the medical unit as a Corpsman, is certified in CPR, and has 30 years of experience teaching surfing. Jonathan helps Michael Jr. and Michael Sr. with the program. Michael has been known as the “Saint of Seal Beach” and has been Seal Beach’s Surfing Santa since the early 90s. The program is registered for all classes through the City of Seal Beach. The staff is described as very friendly and they strive to make everyone’s surfing experience a memorable one, and students continue to come and become part of what the program calls its surfing family.
