NXTPRO Sports is designed to innovate the grassroots tournament, camp, recruiting, and scouting industry. NXTPRO was founded in 2021, with its inaugural season of live basketball events in spring and summer 2022, its first camps in August 2022, and the introduction of PRO16 as its premier tier of sponsored youth basketball team competition in December 2022. NXTPRO announced a strategic sponsorship with Puma Hoops in August 2023, launched its first youth winter season circuit running January through March 2026, and launched the NXT150 National Showcase in July 2026. NXTPRO’s core values are Servant Leadership, Greatness, Think Innovation, Deliver Joy and Peace, and Self-Starter.
NXTPRO has many years of combined experience throughout the basketball realm. NXTPRO is described as a Puma-sponsored national circuit with 50+ scouts, 70+ annual events, and players earning offers from programs at every level. NXTPRO partners with Puma Hoops as a strategic sponsorship, making NXTPRO one of only four true shoe circuits in the country alongside Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour. Puma Hoops is the official partner and outfitter of all NXTPRO camps and circuits beginning with the 2024 season, and NXTPRO is one of only four true shoe circuits in the country alongside Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour.
NXTPRO was founded with a mission to innovate the grassroots basketball circuit model and brings a next level basketball experience nationwide. NXTPRO provides a platform that gives players of all levels—from NCAA Division I prospects to DII, DIII, NAIA, and JUCO hopefuls—exposure, competition, and a path to the next level. NXTPRO provides year round scouting and media coverage and an innovative approach to exposure for players and programs. NXTPRO camps provide a dedicated development environment and exposure to college coaches and scouting vendors.
PRO16 is NXTPRO’s premier tier of sponsored youth basketball team competition and brings together elite programs under a structured, high-exposure league format. PRO16 has produced college signees, McDonald’s All-Americans, nationally ranked prospects, and multiple first round NBA Draft picks. Participation in PRO16 is by invitation only and requires participating teams to meet specific qualification criteria. NXTPRO oversees every aspect of PRO16, from eligibility standards and competition rules to officiating procedures and event administration. NXTPRO Programs cannot use the PRO16 logo for any reason outside of announcing they qualified for the PRO16 Finals, which will be announced the first week of June.
NXT150 National Showcase is open to athletes from all circuits, grassroots programs, and high schools nationwide. NXT150 has eight events spanning New York, Boston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Atlanta, Orlando, Duncanville, and Los Angeles. Each NXT150 event features a national ranking analyst who evaluates participants for potential inclusion in the NXT150 Rankings within their graduating class. Athletes at NXT150 compete in four guaranteed games in front of scouts, college coaches, recruiting services, and national evaluators. Each NXT150 participant receives premium media coverage, an official NXT150 showcase jersey, and an exclusive pair of lifestyle shoes.
NXTPRO’s league structure includes relegation between NXTPRO tiers 1–7 each week, which is reflected on the tournament schedule. All age groups are graded based on the player’s graduation year, and categorization is grade-based: entering senior year is 17U; two years left is 16U; three years remaining is 15U, and so forth. If the player is not enrolled in a high school for the following fall semester they are ineligible to play past May 31, 2027. To qualify for the PRO16 Finals in Orlando from July 9–12, a player must have been listed on the team roster and participated in a minimum of two NXTPRO events during the spring. Eligibility for the NXTPRO Finals from July 24–27 requires a player to be on the team roster and to have played in at least three events. A forfeit is counted in the algorithm as a 30-point loss.
NXTPRO events operate with specific roster and scheduling rules. Rosters must be filled out for every tournament with updated information for each team through Event Connect, and if a program does not complete its rosters it will be penalized one technical foul per person not listed with the correct jersey number. Invoices are sent for the entire year and payment is required 21 days prior to the event, with failure resulting in a late fee. Event scheduling will commence 14 days prior, and failure to make timely payments before this period results in automatic forfeit losses for all scheduled games that weekend. Schedule requests require invoices to be paid in full and on time and must be submitted 14 days prior to the event, and submission does not guarantee the request will be honored. The schedule will not be changed for any reason once it is published outside of an organizer mistake.
NXTPRO has detailed equipment and dress requirements tied to its Puma partnership. All players and coaches must only be wearing PUMA league products while entering the gym, playing or coaching in games, and leaving the gym at NXTPRO events. Only Puma athletic shoes are permitted on the court at NXTPRO events, and no athletic slides or sandals are allowed. In NXTPRO events, it is mandatory for both players and coaches to exclusively wear PUMA, and PUMA products are required to go through the official league channel provided by BSN. The coach’s dress code to be on the bench is khaki shorts or pants or black slacks and a PUMA polo, with pants or shorts either PUMA or a non-competitive brand, and women can wear leggings. Programs that experience repeated infractions of the PUMA requirement will be placed on probation, jeopardizing their chance to secure sponsorship, and the league office reserves the right to consider removal of the program.
NXTPRO also has travel and conduct policies. All teams participating in league tournaments are required to stay within the host city or designated tournament location and must book a minimum of five hotel rooms for the duration of the tournament, with teams within a 70-mile radius exempt. Failure to comply with the hotel room policy will result in removal from the league. Fighting will lead to removal from the league.
Testimonials describe the NXTPRO League as providing an opportunity to play some of the highest-level competition in the country and giving programs and players a platform to help athletes achieve their goal to play at the next level, with staff, venues, coverage, and exposure described as second to none. Another testimonial states that playing in the NXTPRO League gives an opportunity to play talented players from all over the world, that the level of competition is intense, and that the marketing and exposure give players a real chance to get noticed and play at the next level.
