Dynamics Education Center was founded in 1999 in Los Angeles by Sonny Ahad, who serves as Founder and President. Mr. Ahad, the president and principal instructor, is a specialist in teaching math and science with 38 years of experience at both the high school and college levels. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Rangoon University and his master’s degree from Western Illinois University, and he was previously the owner and president of Sonny/Physics School in Burma, which had more than 2,000 students. He also serves on the faculty of Milken Community High School in Los Angeles.
The program’s mission is to create a comfortable and stimulating learning environment for students to improve and achieve mastery in their academic skills. Its approach includes an emphasis on STEM curriculum while also addressing a variety of humanities subjects, and it uses both one-on-one personal tutoring and group classes. One-on-one personal tutoring allows a customized approach tailored to each student’s particular needs, while group classes provide student interaction and discussions for sharing of ideas and reinforcement. Virtual learning and distance education are used to augment the traditional classroom experience.
Dynamics Education Center bases its instruction on a sound educational method, effective resources, and an engaging instructional style. Its primary objective is to help each student realize his or her potential and reach the level of academic performance needed to achieve their goals in life. The center reports that students consistently gain improvements in both their study skills and their academic achievements, with enhanced student learning outcomes as measured by standardized testing. Those results include a high rate of AP test scores of 5 and SAT scores of 800.
The center uses a proprietary Master Key™ instructional method that breaks down difficult problems and subject matter into simpler pieces, with an emphasis on proper study skills and how to approach a problem so students are taught to think critically. According to the program, students leave excited to have mastered material they once viewed as difficult or impossible and gain confidence to confront future challenges on their own. Dynamics Education Center states that it has helped thousands of students improve their academic foundation and skills and has assisted many students in achieving their goals for entry into a top-flight college or university.
Testimonials from students and parents describe individual experiences at the center. One student, Alex W., reports that after having difficulty in a physics class, tutoring at Dynamics helped him get back up to speed within days and raise his grade from a C to an A by the end of the year. Another student, Sara H., reports that after taking Math SAT II classes elsewhere and increasing her score by only 20 points, she came to Dynamics and, with the help of her tutor and “master keys,” increased her score by 80 points on the next exam. A parent, Bill Quateman, states that Mr. Ahad’s enthusiasm and talents as a teacher benefited his son and that the positive energy from knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and caring educators became part of his son’s experience of learning.
