About
Kids Like Me offers structured spring and summer day camps, after-school enrichment classes, social clubs, and a sports academy for children and teens with autism and other developmental differences. Through these programs, participants take part in themed activities, small-group social skills programs, and confidence-building experiences in a supportive setting. Kids Like Me also includes a Counselor in Training (CIT) summer leadership program for teens to build confidence and develop job skills.
• Ages: 6–17 years old
• Schedule: Spring Break Camp is a one-week camp; Summer Camp is a five-week summer camp.
Kids Like Me is a program of Help Group, a Los Angeles–based nonprofit that has supported people across the lifespan for 85 years and serves children, teens, and young adults with autism, learning differences, ADHD, and other developmental disabilities. At Help Group, the mission for Kids Like Me is to use arts, enrichment, and social engagement to build confidence, communication, and emotional well-being, and to ensure every child has an equal opportunity to develop skills to play and thrive. Help Group’s Kids Like Me creates spaces where children and teens with autism and other developmental differences can learn, play, and belong, with every program designed by experts and led by professionals who focus on inclusion and fun.
One parent shared that the variety of classes is “awesome” and that their child is “so happy every time” at pickup, recommending the program to other parents. Another parent noted that staff at the Kids Like Me Summer Camp treated their family with caring and respect and that their child enjoyed the activities so much that they did not notice they were expanding social skills. A third parent, whose child has attended the after-school program for about a year, said they “absolutely love this program and wish it were year-round,” and that it fills a gap so their child can participate in activities they might not usually access due to their ability.
