He was a member of the United States Elite Gymnastic Coaches Association, earned his World Professional Squash Association (WPSA) teaching certification in 1984, and was certified at the highest (level 1) squash coach level by the WPSA. He has coached the game of squash for over 35 years.
In the South Pasadena location, Bob Hanscom first introduced squash and led advocacy and fundraising that facilitated the first racquetball-to-squash court conversion at the Arroyo Seco Racquet Club. He single-handedly started the boys and girls junior program, coaching and accompanying them to tournaments, and offered junior and adult private, semi-private, and group lessons. Thanks to the momentum that Bob initiated, the South Pasadena location now has a growing community of more than 150 players.
