Silicon Valley Second School offers private lessons in piano, violin, viola, cello, guitar, bass guitar, and voice, along with music theory and ear training classes. • Schedule: Private music lessons are available throughout the week, including evenings and weekends, with 30-minute, 45-minute, and 60-minute options; group music theory and ear training classes meet on weekends, including Saturdays.
• Price: 30-minute lesson: $55 per class or $250 per month. 45-minute lesson: $80 per class or $360 per month. 60-minute lesson: $105 per class or $475 per month. Discounts are available for students who pay by semester or take more than one lesson per week.

Silicon Valley Second School has served the area for 30 years and has been building children’s minds for over 20 years. The school opened in 2008, and its founder, Natalya Karamyan, has taught piano professionally since 1995 and moved to the U.S. in 2003. The program focuses on classical music and offers music, art, chess, and math lessons under one roof, with lessons by appointment only and performance opportunities several times each year, including four to five student recitals annually.

Teachers at Silicon Valley Second School have advanced degrees in music and bring years of professional training to every lesson, with instructors holding master’s degrees or higher and decades of combined teaching and performance experience. Director and founder Natalya Karamyan is a piano instructor who earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Piano from Turkmen State Music College and her Master’s Degree in Piano and Chamber Music from Turkmen National Conservatory, and she is a certified member of MTAC, MTNA, CAPMT, and the American College of Musicians (NGPT). Yevgeniya “Jane” Gerus earned her Master’s degree in Music and Viola Performance from Odessa National Music Academy in Ukraine and volunteers as a viola player with local community orchestras such as the Palo Alto Philharmonic Orchestra. Antonio Rabadan has a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, and Larisa Zaiko earned her Master’s degree in Fine Arts and Design from the Art Academy in Belarus.

According to its mission statement, Silicon Valley Second School teaches children to appreciate music and art at a high level and helps children learn reason, strategy, and logic through chess and math lessons. The mission statement also explains that the teachers understand the power of structured learning and create an educational environment where the arts are treated as both art and science, blending joy and discipline and cultivating patience, discipline, and perseverance. The school offers audition preparation for exams like ABRSM and RCM and serves families from Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, San Jose, and Saratoga.
