About
California Sports Center – Sunnyvale Community Center Programs offers gymnastics classes, gymnastics camps, dance, CSC Ninja, and a recreational gymnastics program. California Sports Center teaches gymnastics classes and camps in partnership with the City of Sunnyvale, and all classes and camps at CSC @ Sunnyvale Community Center are registered through the City of Sunnyvale, with a discount available for Sunnyvale city residents for these programs. CSC teaches gymnastics, dance, and CSC Ninja across five locations in Morgan Hill, San Jose, and Sunnyvale. Preschool classes are offered for kids ages five and under. Neurodivergent gymnastics classes use their own curriculum and have smaller class ratios than some other classes. Spring & Summer Camps use the tagline, “Learn skills, make friends, have FUN!” and birthday parties use the tagline, “You bring your friends…we’ll bring the fun.” CSC also offers multiple competitive tracks, including USA Gymnastics Development Program Levels 3–10 and NGA Silver–Diamond for girls, and USA Gymnastics Development Program Levels 3–10 and Future Stars for boys, plus NGA teams at Race St. and Great Oaks, and is described as having one of the most successful boys gymnastics programs in the Bay Area. The program focuses on developing life skills such as teamwork, confidence, self-control, advocating for yourself, leadership, discipline, perseverance, and healthy habits, and uses a Positive Coaching approach with encouragement for coaches to be “Double Goal” certified. CSC added “Zen Tiger Mind” Mental Power Stations into its gyms in 2022 and has partnered with both Lisa Mitzel and Dr. Alison Arnold for mental training and mental health. CSC states its mission as “Teaching Gymnastics to kids of all levels and ages in fun, safe, and progressive learning environments,” and notes, “We believe that gymnastics isn’t just about flips and cartwheels — it’s about laying the groundwork for strength, confidence, and lifelong success,” and “We believe movement is for everybody—regardless of age, ability, or learning style.” CSC was the first gymnastics club in the country to partner with Positive Coaching Alliance, beginning in 2006. An online ProShop offers CSC swag from Champion Sportswear.
One parent shared, “My daughter started gymnastics and hip-hop dance…she waits the whole week for the next class! She loves the lessons. The coaches are very good with the kids; they are kind and patient.” Another parent said, “The coaching staff is incredibly knowledgeable and skilled, but more importantly, they know how to connect with the kids. They’ve created a supportive environment where our daughter feels confident to push her limits and celebrate her progress… Beyond improving her gymnastics skills, our daughter has gained confidence, resilience, and a sense of pride in her accomplishments. These are qualities that we know will benefit her far beyond the gym.”
