Community First School After School Program

Community First School After School Program includes activities such as experiments, movies, STEM projects, and field trips. The program also offers other activities during its regular hours.

• Ages: 5–16 years old
• Schedule: Open Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 6:00pm (excluding holidays and teacher in-service days)

The program states that its mission is to always encourage the natural curiosity and desire to learn in each individual child. It supports an eclectic philosophy that includes play based, high scope, emergent, discovery, and developmentally appropriate practice. It provides a variety of learning opportunities that foster each child’s physical, social, mental, and emotional development. The program is committed to encouraging play, discovery, and experimenting through carefully chosen activities, and it was created as a stimulating, caring, home-like environment where each child can be an independent, self-motivated thinker and active learner. It states that it strives to provide opportunities for children to develop life skills that will carry them further in life and is committed to preparing all children for their next educational journey into Kindergarten and beyond. The program indicates that it strives to have open communication between Community First School and each enrolled family, and that it values families and is committed to a joint working relationship to support each child’s readiness for their next stage in life. Transportation is provided from Cherry Chase Elementary, and the program also accepts enrollments from other Sunnyvale School District schools. This program is for children entering Transitional Kindergarten up to age 16. The Sunnyvale location lists Dieu Mi Le as Director, and the Milpitas location lists Thao Tran as Director. The program states that it believes children, family, and community are all interconnected.
