• Ages: 5–18 years old

In class, the program emphasizes communication, respect towards peers, teamwork, and trust. The program states that many people practice Kung Fu for health benefits, building confidence, strength, wellness, and self-defense. It notes that Kung Fu is one of the ways of improving physical strength, including flexibility, balance, and power, and that most Kung Fu movements use both sides of the body for developing better physical balance. The program describes that practicing Kung Fu can help children develop power, strength, confidence, better focus, physical coordination, and ability to concentrate, and that this knowledge can be helpful if a child participates in other sports. According to the program, the purpose of practicing Kung Fu is not for fighting, but for protecting and standing up for oneself when in danger or being threatened, and Kung Fu practice has both internal and external aspects. The program also states that Tai Chi and Qi Gong are very helpful for stress relief and calming the mind, and that these practices involve exercise of both the body and mind while training flexibility, balance, and strength. It further notes that by learning and following rules in a Kung Fu class, students will learn discipline, respect, persistence, courage, kindness, and sharing, and that Kung Fu is described as excellent for improving blood circulation and lowering blood pressure.
