About
Bhangra Empire Bhangra Classes offers Bhangra classes for kids and adults, including beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. The program also offers Beginner Giddha classes and Toddlers classes. By the end of each 8-week session, students in each class learn a 4–5 minute routine that is performed during the last class in an event called the Dance Off, which is a friendly competition where each class performs what they learned over the session.

Bhangra Empire is a Bay Area dance team established in 2006, and Bhangra Empire’s Bhangra Classes began in the summer of 2009. The staff is comprised of instructors who have a strong passion for Bhangra, are experienced, enthusiastic, and extremely dedicated, and many of them also have experience in other dance forms. The program uses a structured approach to teaching Bhangra that is broken down into easy movements. The Dance Off is a show at the end of each class session where students perform on a proper stage in front of their family and friends, and the audience is also treated to special performances by Bhangra Empire, with sponsors helping make these shows possible.
The program’s vision is to make Bhangra more accessible for all people, regardless of skill level, with classes that cater to beginner levels, advanced levels, and levels in between, and a goal of expanding offerings to other locations within North America and eventually around the world. Classes are available for ages 5 and up and are offered in six cities across the Bay Area: San Jose, Fremont, Dublin, San Ramon, Mountain View, and San Francisco. Members of the Bhangra Empire team come from many Bay Area cities, including Dublin, San Ramon, Sunnyvale, San Jose, Fremont, Palo Alto, and San Francisco.
Bhangra Empire has performed at President Barack Obama’s first State Dinner in 2009 and was featured in Harper’s Bazaar Magazine in 2010 alongside First Lady Michelle Obama. The team has also been featured on Season 5 of America’s Got Talent, has performed at halftime of Golden State Warriors games for five straight years, and has competed at and placed in many Bhangra competitions across North America.
