About
Honey Tree Early Childhood Center offers activities such as art, block play, dramatic pretend play, music and movement, and cooking. Children take part in language and literacy activities, children’s literature and children’s books, puzzles, games, and manipulatives, as well as math and science. The program also includes large and fine motor activity, sensory experiences with sand and water play, and dramatic play in a variety of play-based and developmentally appropriate activities.

Honey Tree Early Childhood Center has enriched the lives and learning of young children age 2 through Kindergarten for over 51 years. The program offers half-day classes within the framework of a Christian setting, with a curriculum foundation that is thematic and allows for emergent experiences and opportunities based on children’s needs and interests. Daily routines, indoor and outdoor play, learning centers, and circle times are each part of the curriculum, with a focus on developing a love of learning through hands-on experiences in a nurturing and fun environment. Classrooms and play yards are planned and prepared by attentive teachers, with small class sizes that include two teachers who are experienced and meet California licensing requirements in Early Childhood Education. Teachers facilitate skill development with ongoing observation, assessment, and daily and weekly lesson plans, and use a kind and patient approach.
The program’s mission states a commitment to positively influencing the lives of young children in the community, helping each child to value themselves as a unique individual created by God, and to develop a joyful curiosity in knowing and learning about God’s world. Health and safety are described as a top priority, including First Aid and CPR, facility security, and Covid protocols. Honey Tree Early Childhood Center is a community outreach ministry of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Thousand Oaks, California. The program is now enrolling for Fall 2026.
