About
Little Kitchen Academy offers hands-on cooking classes, including 3-week cooking classes, teen cooking classes, Spring Break Camp, 5-Day Summer Camps, Monthly Weekend Sessions, Toddler’s First Taste classes, Parent and Toddler classes, and preschool-level enrichment through fully independent drop-off cooking classes. The program is described as a premier Montessori-inspired cooking school for children and teens, with an age-based curriculum that uses all recipes free of meat, poultry, seafood, and nuts. Classes take place with small class sizes and individual workstations, and students use a specially designed Progressive Knife Set during their cooking activities.
• Ages: 2–18 years old
• Schedule: Options include 3-hour classes, 3-week cooking classes, 5-Day Summer Camps, Monthly Weekend Sessions, Spring Break Camp, Toddler’s First Taste 75-minute classes, Parent and Toddler classes, and preschool-level independent drop-off classes
Little Kitchen Academy states that its mission is “Changing lives from scratch as the premier Montessori-inspired cooking school for children and teens,” with a skills-based curriculum that teaches students how to prepare meals from scratch using local, seasonal, and organic ingredients as much as possible. The environment includes a Living Food Wall powered by Click & Grow with plants at different stages of growth, a ChopValue community table crafted from 33,436 recycled chopsticks, and Emeco chairs made from repurposed plastic and glass bottles. Students wear BIRKENSTOCK chef shoes and Chef Works chef’s coats, and each student gets their own Scrub Daddy products to use during clean-up, while they can also observe, care for, and harvest from the Living Food Wall.
The curriculum blends hands-on exploration with real-world applications in math, science, and problem-solving, and teen classes include learning how to budget, make substitutions, and prepare more complex recipes. All recipes are free of meat, poultry, seafood, and nuts, and the only allergen not welcome in Little Kitchen Academy is nuts. The leadership team includes Founder, President & COO Felicity Curin, and Iron Chef Cat Cora serves as the Official Brand Ambassador and a member of the Advisory Board.
Little Kitchen Academy lists charitable partners Crisis Text Line, One Tree Planted, and the Changing Lives from Scratch Fund, and notes support from brands and people including ChopValue, Emeco, BIRKENSTOCK, Chef Works, Click & Grow, Scrub Daddy, and Celebrity Chef Cat Cora. Parent testimonials describe children with celiac disease and particular taste preferences trying new foods in class, a 5-year-old confidently cracking eggs, and older children learning skills such as making poached eggs and chopping vegetables, with parents reporting positive experiences with staff responsiveness and their children’s interest in helping in the kitchen at home.
