About

Little Kitchen Academy Thousand Oaks offers hands-on cooking classes where students learn to make real, healthy recipes from scratch, try new foods, and follow an age-based cooking curriculum. Classes include activities such as planting, nurturing, harvesting, and preparing produce, as well as observing, caring for, and enjoying plants on the Living Food Wall powered by Click & Grow. Students are encouraged to ask what is in their food, where it comes from, how it benefits their body, and how to prepare it in a way that tastes good to them.

• Ages: 2–18 years old
• Schedule: Toddler’s First Taste classes are a hands-on 75-minute introduction to cooking for child and caregiver

Little Kitchen Academy Thousand Oaks offers Toddler’s First Taste classes as a 75-minute introduction to cooking for a child and caregiver, preschool-level enrichment through fully independent drop-off cooking classes, and 3-hour cooking classes for ages 6–8 that include real-world math and science concepts. The program also offers 3-hour cooking classes for preteens to alter recipes for their own tastes and teen cooking classes to learn how to budget, make substitutions, and prepare more complex recipes. All recipes are free of meat, poultry, seafood, and nuts, and the only allergen not welcome in Little Kitchen Academy is nuts, with a variety of choices to accommodate food allergies, including gluten-free and dairy-free options and ingredient substitutions. The curriculum is described as Montessori-inspired, with 3-hour classes in a space with caring instructors, small class sizes, and individual workstations, and it blends hands-on exploration with real-world applications in math, science, and problem-solving, with a focus on building confidence, independence, and healthy eating habits. Each season introduces a fresh batch of custom recipes so students cook something new in every class, and students are encouraged to plant, nurture, harvest, and prepare produce from the Living Food Wall, which features plants at different stages of growth.

The mission of Little Kitchen Academy Thousand Oaks is to empower students with practical life skills and food literacy by using local, seasonal, and organic ingredients as much as possible. Its food philosophy emphasizes local, seasonal, and organic ingredients as much as possible, and using locally-grown products supports surrounding communities. The program is described as a premier Montessori-inspired cooking school for children and teens, and its leadership includes Felicity Curin, Founder, President & COO.
