Torrance Arts Academy Dance Program includes dance mentorship and instruction along with music lessons, art classes, private lessons, group music classes, and piano lessons. Students can take lessons for multiple instruments and different art mediums under the same roof. Private lessons are one-on-one and tailored to the student’s needs, learning style, and personality, and group music classes are age appropriate and focused on collaborative learning in a fun and comfortable environment for students to grow and make music together. The program offers many performance opportunities throughout the year for students to share what they have learned.
• Schedule: Class options Monday–Friday 1pm–8pm, and Saturday 9am–1pm
Torrance Arts Academy opened in November 2010, previously known as Hills Academy, with 20 students and was established in 2010. The mission of the program is to foster the love of learning through exceptional and excellent music, art, and dance mentorship and instruction. The teaching staff includes university-trained teachers from schools such as Julliard, USC, Bob Cole, OTIS, New England Conservatory, and Cal Arts. The Executive Director and owner is Jane Lee, who is also a music educator, founder of Torrance Arts Academy, and founder of Musical Miracles, a non-profit organization that teaches music and art to more than 500 kids weekly at Title 1 schools. The Torrance Arts Academy is described as the largest music and art academy in the South Bay, with a 4,000 square foot facility equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and real instruments, and it is open six days a week with month-to-month tuition and no annual or multi-session contracts.
