About the provider
North Coast Opportunities was founded in 1968. Its mission is to provide opportunities to low-income and disadvantaged individuals to become self-reliant through a wide range of services and community-based initiatives. The leadership team includes Miriam McNamara, Teri Sedrick, Alexis Glidewell, Dan McIntire, Anna Rozelski, and Kimberley Mautner. The program serves Lake and Mendocino Counties, with additional programs in Humboldt, Sonoma, Del Norte, Napa, and Solano Counties, and it collaborates with agencies including the Mendocino County Department of Health & Human Services, Department of Social Services, First 5, SELPA, MPIC, Easter Seals, Redwood Coast Regional Center, Rural Communities Child Care, Foster Grandparents, Garden’s Project, and Community Health Clinics.
The program serves children birth to five years in Mendocino County and children ages three to five in Lake County. Ten percent of enrollment must be children with a certified disability. Ten percent of enrollment may be children whose family income exceeds the federal poverty guidelines. Children with disabilities are always welcome. Children do not need to be potty trained. One teacher for every 4 children per classroom. Free fresh and healthy meals are provided, with accommodations for children with food allergies and/or medical needs. Parent is the child's best teacher.
