Joanne Brown Dancers

Joanne Brown Dancers focuses on dance, including teaching dance and preparing dancers for performances and competitions. Dancers take part in many local dance competitions as well as national dance competitions in Anaheim, Las Vegas, and Florida. The program also includes performance opportunities on cruise ships and with Dance The Magic in the Halloween Disney Parade down Main Street and in a holiday parade at Disneyland.

Joanne Brown Dancers officially opened its doors in January of 1993 and has been in Union City for 45 years. The studio states that it has a warm and friendly environment that has become a second home to many of its dancers. Joanne Brown is the founder, teacher, and coordinator of the Union City Leisure Services Dance Program and the Fremont Recreation Dance Program. She attended San Francisco State University, where she studied jazz, ballet, modern, and Afro, and earned her teaching credential and a B.A. in Liberal Studies in 1975.

The Joanne Brown Dancers participate in many local dance competitions and national dance competitions in Anaheim, Las Vegas, and Florida, and have performed on several cruise ships. They have performed with Dance The Magic in the Halloween Disney Parade down Main Street at Disneyland and have a planned repeat performance in December for a Disneyland holiday parade. Joanne Brown has taught dance programs at Pioneer, Kitiyama, and Alvarado Elementary Schools, and is currently teaching dance at Eastin Elementary for 1st–5th graders. She choreographed the number that helped Union City win the 1999 All-American City Award.
