Intro Climbing Classes

Intro Climbing Classes include top-rope climbing, lead climbing, auto belays, and bouldering. The program offers an Intro to Top Rope Climbing Class that covers basic knot tying, putting on gear, and belaying skills, as well as an Intro to Bouldering Class. Bouldering in this program is climbing without a rope over a padding system.

• Ages: 2–18 years old
• Schedule: Classes are available during general facility hours, with options Monday–Thursday 10:00 AM–10:00 PM, Friday 10:00 AM–9:00 PM, Saturday 10:00 AM–8:00 PM, and Sunday 10:00 AM–8:00 PM; the Intro to Top Rope Climbing Class is a 1-hour class and the Intro to Bouldering Class is a 30 minute class

Hangar 18 Upland features 7,000+ square feet of climbing terrain, 3 massive bouldering areas, 100+ bouldering problems, 30+ youth friendly climbs, 10+ auto belay climbs, a Kilter Board, a fitness area, a training area, and more. All first-time visitors must complete a Release of Liability Waiver and an Orientation Confirmation, and for minors these documents must be completed by a parent or court appointed legal guardian with no exceptions. Climbers are recommended to be at least 5 years old, but climbers as young as 24 months are accepted for the Intro to Top Rope Climbing Class. For the Intro to Bouldering Class, it is recommended for ages 11 and up, but climbers 6 years or older are accepted. Participants must be 14 or older to learn to belay and hold the ropes for the climber. Classes are booked on a first come first serve basis. No previous experience is necessary for the Intro to Top Rope Climbing Class or the Intro to Bouldering Class. Once a participant has passed the Intro to Top Rope Climbing Class, that participant will be ready to climb any top-rope climb in the facilities, and once a participant has passed the Intro to Bouldering Class, that participant will be bouldering certified at Hangar 18 and able to boulder at any of the facilities.
