About

The CalArts Community Arts Partnership (CAP) is an award-winning, co-curricular program of California Institute of the Arts that offers tuition-free after-school, summer, and school-based arts programs for youth in Los Angeles County. CAP offers free after-school and school-based arts programs in every discipline taught at the Institute for youth ages 4–18.

Since 1990, the CalArts Community Arts Partnership’s mission has been to serve as the bridge between California Institute of the Arts and the diverse communities of Los Angeles County. CAP works to address the systemic and structural race and income-based opportunity gap in access to arts education for youth across LA County and is dedicated to being an inclusive and transformative leader in arts education. Through its programs, CAP provides innovative arts learning opportunities for CalArts students and alumni to develop and refine their arts teaching skills and to solidify the role of artists in education and society. CAP is a cocurricular youth-arts education program that works with community organizations and public schools throughout Los Angeles County, and it will champion and foster the professional growth of CalArts students and alumni through professional arts learning, career preparation, and real-world engagement in classrooms and communities.
