Lil’ Kickers is described as an award-winning child development program that uses soccer to work with children ages 18 months to 12 years through age-appropriate and fun-filled activities. The mission statement for Lil’ Kickers says the program aims to inspire kids to be active, strong, confident, and well-balanced in order to “unleash their awesome” both on and off the field. Micro Classes and Skills Institute classes are described as developmental and non-competitive, with everyone getting equal playing time in Micro Classes and no goalies, no score-keeping, and no league standings in those classes.
All Lil’ Kickers coaches are carefully screened and go through a rigorous training process that includes on-field and curriculum training. Training in teaching and child development is provided and ongoing for Lil’ Kickers and Lil’ Sluggers instructors, and experience working with children under 4 years old is highly regarded for Lil’ Kickers instructors. The leadership team includes Amanda as Daily Operations Manager, Betsi as Adult League Manager, Garrett as Lil’ Kickers Coordinator, Alyssa as Assistant Manager, Mark as Youth League Director, and Mallory as Camp and Birthday Party Director.
Instructors are required to participate in scheduled community events such as Light the Night, Kid Expo, and Concerts in the Park, as well as company-hosted events like Coaches vs. Parents Games and Open House events. One testimonial from Chinmay P. notes two years of attending with a child, mentioning friendly staff, great coaches, and the new indoor location, and recommends the program. Another testimonial from Mike H. states that at the soccer center, people meet new long-lasting friends and that the center brings people together from all walks of life to play soccer.
Participants are instructed to wear comfortable clothes and indoor soccer shoes or plain tennis shoes, with no cleats allowed. Shinguards are encouraged for Micro Classes and Skills Institute classes, and they are recommended for higher level classes, including Micro Classes and Skills Institute classes, but are not necessary for the Lil’ Kickers program. Classes are co-ed, there is open enrollment for Lil’ Kickers, Skills Institute, Youth Leagues, Lil’ Sluggers, and Sports Camps, and class fees are prorated if a child joins mid-session. A free trial class is available for Lil’ Kickers.
