Starting 5 Basketball is a youth basketball program established in 2016. The program’s mission is to serve every child regardless of skill level or experience, stating that kids are not equal in their talents or abilities, but are equal in their right and the program’s honor to be trained. Starting 5 Basketball is a fully incorporated company with its own permanent gym and facilities, including 4 baskets and 2 shooting machines for open shooting, and is well regarded and established in the Santa Clarita community at a fixed location since 2016.

The program employs an elite staff of numerous coaches, trainers, and instructors, and skilled staff meet children at their level and help them grow and develop. Employees have undergone thorough Federal and State background checks and employee conduct training, and Starting 5 Basketball is registered, approved, and authorized by the U.S. Department of Justice for all of their background check investigations under ORI Code# CA0349400.

Open Shooting is open to high school boys and girls. The Girls Shootout League is just for girls and focuses on building skills, knowledge, and a love for the game of basketball. The leagues are described as fun-focused, helping kids develop a love for the game.

Parents describe Starting 5 Basketball as providing intentional focus on development, competition, and fun for their children, and note that their kids have gained respect for self and others, discipline, self-confidence, and skills that transcend the basketball court into daily life. Another parent describes Starting 5 as a top notch youth basketball organization that has been devoted to preparing and mentoring a daughter for girls high school basketball and helping a younger son learn skills and fundamentals to be a great team player, and mentions that their children have made lasting friendships and enjoy the Shootout and travel ball training.
