Las Posas Children’s Center – Will Rogers After School Program offers arts and crafts, sports, and games as part of its daily activities. Las Posas Children’s Center – Will Rogers After School Program operates at Will Rogers School as part of Las Posas Children’s Center, Inc., which runs school-aged childcare centers on six Ventura Unified School District campuses. Las Posas Children’s Center opened in June 1985 and was founded by Robert (Bob) Alfino and Cheryl Reeder. According to its mission statement, the organization focuses on a child-centered approach that includes structured and unstructured recreational activities and emphasizes responsibility, self-discipline, and good citizenship. Las Posas Children’s Center, Inc. also provides care during Fall and Spring break, in-service days, and most school holidays, and offers a Summer Day Camp for kindergarten through 8th grade with three- and five-day week plans, with all field trips included in weekly tuition and the option to choose specific weeks without paying for unattended weeks. The organization has been voted “Best Childcare” in Ventura County for the past twelve years in the VC Reporter, and its Summer Day Camp became the first in the city of Ventura to be accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). It has also been voted Best Day Care for West Ventura County in the Ventura County Star Readers Poll in 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2016, and in the VC Reporter in 2013 through 2024, and its staff won the City of Ventura Corporate Games D Division Overall Championship in multiple years between 1999 and 2010.
