North Coast Jiu Jitsu offers Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for kids and adults, including kids Jiu-Jitsu groups and classes for youth and toddlers ages 4 and up. The program also includes Muay Thai striking, self-defense, women’s self-defense classes, anti-bully programs, boot camp classes, and functional weight training. The facility has two stories and two mats, which allows a family class where the kids class can run at the same time as adult classes on separate mats.

Head instructor and professor Jake Mapes is a 4th Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with an 8-0 professional MMA record, and he is the 2009 National IBJJF Absolute Champion and a 2009 Bronze Medalist at the IBJJF Worlds. His lineage is listed as Rickson Gracie > Luis Heredia > Jake Mapes, and he has trained many professional fighters and taught unarmed combative skills to the United States Navy.
The program’s stated vision is to run a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy as a true martial arts academy, with strong ties to the Gracie self-defense curriculum and an environment that promotes healthy competition. The academy describes its focus on values such as confidence, respect, honor, loyalty, strength, friendship, integrity, and virtue, and notes that these are especially emphasized with youth students. The program describes itself as a family atmosphere where students have fun while they train and form long-term friendships.
