Creative Art & Clay was founded by Maria Rachidi, who is described as a full-time dreamer, community organizer, and mom of two kids. Maria was born and raised in Budapest, Hungary, graduated from Eötvös Lóránd University in Budapest, moved to New York City, and studied at NYU. Creative Art & Clay moved into its current studio space in 2022. The program states that it offers a safe and happy place to inspire curiosity and creativity, aims to deepen the connection between people and art with a variety of programs, and describes itself as an artsy playground and creative space for children, adults, and families to connect and have fun. Maria has created and taught an after-school curriculum for public schools in Walnut Creek, Concord, Pleasant Hill, and Brentwood, worked with Jewish Contra Costa to create an art curriculum and teach at their summer camp, worked with Jewish Family and Community Services to help facilitate art therapy for Afghan refugees, worked with Visions in Education to create homeschool classes for homeschool families in the East Bay, and volunteered at events.
