• Ages: 5–17 years old
• Schedule: Day Camp meets Monday through Friday in week-long sessions, and Junior Camps run in four-day sessions
Excel Basketball Camp was established in 1981. The camp leadership team includes Camp Directors Coach Brian Sullivan and Frank Allocco, Jr in California, and Coach Art Cattano and Coach Gregg Allocco in New Jersey. Camp days begin with 8 Fundamental Learning Stations, and each camper’s shot is videotaped and personally reviewed in a one on one session that teaches the BLESH technique created at Excel. Campers compete for Camp Free Throw Champion Awards in each age division and play in 2 League Games each day, with no down time and camp up and running on Monday by 9:05 each day. Most of the coaches are Excel Alumni, and the program maintains an Excel Media Vault with vintage pictures and videos, as well as an alumni program that includes a Retro Excel Shirt, a quarterly email update, and information and invitations to alumni events. The program has partnered with Ultimate Fieldhouse in Walnut Creek to bring back its Shooting Camps with a new and improved clinic-style format. One testimonial describes Excel as the best basketball camp in the country, run by passionate coaches, with an emphasis on fundamentals and creating habits, and notes that Excel has been an influential experience for that player and coach since age 10 and after working in the NBA.
