About
Science Beginnings offers after school science enrichment that includes specific classes such as Food Chemistry, Chemistry Fizz, Physics Fun, Budding Biologist, Explorations in STEM, Careers for Kids, and Introduction to Robotics. The program also offers after school science classes, summer camps, and Extraordinary Summer Camps that use fun, innovative experiments in a casual camp environment. Daily parent updates with science worksheets are part of the camp experience.
• Ages: 5–12 years old
• Schedule: Open Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–5:00 pm
The curriculum at Science Beginnings is divided into seven programs: Food Chemistry, Physics Fun, Chemistry Fizz, Budding Biologist, Careers for Kids, Awesome Explorations in STEM, and Introduction to Robotics. With more than 14 years of experience, the Director has thoughtfully designed and carefully crafted all courses and provides personalized attention as the lead teacher. Classes are taught by the Director or Lead Teachers and assisted by trained, energetic, and enthusiastic teaching assistants, and all teachers and TAs are handpicked and trained by the Director. The program notes that teachers are trained, caring, and enthusiastic, and that parents have access to teachers by email. Science Beginnings also mentions Gate Classes and scholarships.
The stated mission of Science Beginnings is to make science part of a child’s life, not just a subject taught in a classroom. The mission includes making science fun, making kids curious about their world, increasing scientific knowledge and awareness, encouraging kids to question day-to-day phenomena, and making kids team builders and problem solvers.
Parent feedback shared by the program includes comments that an eight-year-old set of twins “learned a lot and had so much fun in the camp” and that the teacher, Vidya, is described as “a wonderful teacher.” Another parent from Livermore reports that their kindergarten-age daughter looks forward to class every week and calls it one of the biggest highlights of her school year. A parent from Pleasanton notes that their ten-year-old twins were extremely enthusiastic about the Budding Biologist camp and eager to share what they learned each day. The program states that parents give it “a big thumbs up” and that kids love it too.
