Sparta Taekwondo was founded in 2004 and has been Kukkiwon-certified since 2004, with over 20 years of developing students and 20+ years of excellence. The program reports 150+ active families and more than 1,000 students developed. Its mission states that Sparta Taekwondo was built on one vision: to produce not just champions in the ring, but champions in life, with a mission of building community leaders in a distracted age, and that Taekwondo is viewed as more than kicks and forms but as a success system for building great character.

All instructors are Kukkiwon-certified, and several coaches competed nationally and internationally before teaching at Sparta Taekwondo. Team Sparta, the elite sparring team, is led by a 2x Olympian. The leadership team includes Master Geoffrey Uy (Head Instructor); Master Diane Hoh (Master Instructor); Master Tshomlee Go (Master Instructor and Team Sparta Coach); Master Garth Andrews (Master Instructor); Master Jason Lee (Assistant Team Sparta Coach); Master Alice Liau (Assistant Team Sparta Coach); Kenneth Uy, Kristopher Uy, Kimberly Uy, Kyle Uy, and Keith Uy (Senior Instructors); and Karina Uy and Koby Uy (Assistant Instructors).

Sparta Taekwondo highlights that it teaches both Taegeuk and Palgwae poomsae sets and describes its curriculum as the East Bay’s most extensive Taekwondo curriculum. It states that a black belt at Sparta takes years of consistent work and is earned, not issued. The dojang environment is described as supportive and family-oriented, and Walnut Creek families have trusted Sparta Taekwondo for over 20 years, with 5.0-star ratings on Google.

The program notes that the starter package includes a full Taekwondo uniform that families keep even if they do not continue past the trial, and that for the 2-week trial the uniform is included and all students bring is themselves. Testimonials from parents and students describe children looking forward to class, gaining confidence, long-term training from kindergarten through high school, and viewing Sparta Taekwondo as a second home and a Taekwondo family. One reviewer describes Sparta Taekwondo as the premier Taekwondo training facility in California, with international-level training and three Masters on staff plus three more as part of the sparring team, led by a 2x Olympian.
