The program offers a toddler program for 2–3 year olds that includes potty training and introduction of academic studies, a pre- and transitional kindergarten program for 3–5 year olds based on reading, writing, mathematics, and language development, and a kindergarten program for 5–6 year olds focused on language and literacy, math, social studies, history, geography, and hands on science experiments. Montessori classrooms are arranged by subject area, including cooking, cleaning, gardening, art, caring for animals, and a library corner, and children are free to move around the room, choose materials, and work without a set time limit, with children of mixed ages learning from each other.

The Director and Owner is an experienced and qualified Montessori and Early Childhood Educator for over 30 years, holds a degree in English and a post-graduate qualification in Early Childhood Development, and has pursued California Teaching Credentials and earned the title of Site Supervisor in Child Development through certification. All staff members are Montessori trained, First Aid and CPR certified, fully background checked, and regularly subject to performance evaluations, and every teacher must pass a background check and be certified in CPR and First Aid. Discovery Montessori is a licensed facility, offers healthy lunches, affordable rates, and state subsidized programs, and states that its Montessori program uses child-friendly, age-appropriate, auto-didactic or self-correcting materials, with a custom-tailored environment and free choice of material, and a core curriculum that includes activities that stimulate all of the senses and a wide range of academic and enrichment subjects.

Discovery Montessori states that its primary goal is to foster and enhance each child’s natural sense of joy and wonder, and that its mission is to bring a high quality level of care in a safe, stimulating environment, helping each child reach their full potential in all areas of life in an affordable manner without compromising quality. The program states that the most important aspect of its educational mission is not only academics, and that the idea that “education is not a chore” but a joyous exploration of life’s mysteries is the most important lesson it hopes to teach children at Discovery.

Parent and grandparent testimonials describe children starting kindergarten able to accomplish high achievements due to an early academic start, receiving piano lessons and attending field trips, and using before and after school care with school pick up and drop off and homework assistance. Families report children becoming 100% potty trained, learning “so much at such a young age,” and doing kindergarten or first grade work at 4 years old, with one child participating in a kindergarten class and then entering 1st grade even though by district standards she would have been in kindergarten. Testimonials also mention teachers spending long hours talking with children, sharing stories, songs, and games, and children learning manners, policies, acts of kindness, facts, current events, geography, and about relationships and boundaries, with multiple family members choosing the school over a span of 17 years.
