About

Chaparral Ranch offers horse activities that include trail rides, beach rides, and rides and camps. The program provides English riding lessons, Western lessons, 30-minute lessons, and lessons up to 1 hour in length. All trail rides are walking only, with no trotting, cantering, or galloping permitted.

• Ages: 6–18 years old

Chaparral Ranch has been bringing horse activities to the Bay Area and California since 2009. Its mission is to service the public with horsemanship experiences through recreational outdoor activities, California heritage, and nature, and to bring together the relationships between horses and humans through positive connections for safe and fun interactions and activities. All riders must wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, with no heels higher than ½ inch, and all riders under 18 years of age are required to wear a helmet. All English riders are required to wear a helmet regardless of age, the weight limit to ride is 230 pounds, there is a one-rider-per-horse rule with no exceptions, and expectant mothers are not permitted to ride. Cell phones must be put away in a safe place while on horseback, Chaparral Ranch reserves the right to refuse service to anyone at any time for any reason, and families are strongly recommended to bring their own drinking water. Participants are asked to arrive 10–15 minutes before the scheduled ride to check in, complete paperwork, and be fitted for a helmet if needed. The program is currently hiring and invites interested individuals to apply.
