About
Redwood NJB is a basketball program that includes a Rookie developmental league for first and second grade players, divisional play for third through eighth grade, and an All Net division with tryouts. The program offers organized basketball activities that include practices and games across these different divisions.
• Ages: 6–14 years old
• Schedule: Rookies (first and second graders) practice once a week, all other divisions practice twice a week typically once during the week and once on Saturday, and games are typically played on Sundays for all leagues, with most games on Sunday and some on Saturday.
Redwood NJB is part of National Junior Basketball, which describes itself as a competitive program with emphasis on good sportsmanship, scholastic achievement, and skills development, and states that it wants every kid to grow and learn the fundamentals of the game. The chapter has been a service to its community for 26 years, and the National Office notes that the 2024–2025 season is its 40th year of serving the community through basketball. The chapter competes locally against 14 other chapters in Northern California, and qualifying teams can compete in Southern California for a National Title. For first and second grade players there is a Rookie developmental league, for third through eighth grade there are several divisions to better match teams and players competitively, and there is an All Net division with tryouts for those seeking a more competitive experience. Rookies (first and second grade) and girls are not subject to chapter boundaries, and players grandfathered in from a sibling are allowed to play in Redwood NJB. Registration is only open to players who have a confirmed spot on an existing team and must be confirmed with the coach before registering. Practice days, times, and locations are assigned, and exact details are sent out by coaches.
Redwood NJB notes that all head coaches must register and pay a coach fee, which will be added to a 50% registration refund when processed later in the season, and that the coach registration fee covers the background check. Cards will not be required until December, but coach registration needs to be completed before Friday, November 15. The program lists multiple competitive achievements, including 2024 National Champions, 2022 National Champions, 2022 Section Champions, 2018 National Champions, 2017–2018 D2 Slam Dunk Champions, 2015 D2 All Star Champions, 2020 4th All Net National Championships, and 2015 D2 Slam Dunk Champions.
