School of Rock Boulder offers music lessons that include weekly private music lessons, weekly group music lessons, and group rehearsals. The program includes one-on-one instruction, songwriting exercises, lyrical workshops, live performances, and recording original songs. Instruction uses simplified rock instruments to teach kids to play music, and programs are described as performance-based music education that combines one-on-one instruction with group rehearsals.

Every few months, School of Rock Boulder Performance Program students take the stage and play at local Boulder music venues in front of a live audience. A small number of students are selected for the School of Rock AllStars Tour, which takes selected students on a nationwide summer tour across the United States, and less than 1% of School of Rock students are selected each year to represent School of Rock as an AllStar.
