YMCA Camp Tumbleson Lake offers hiking, canoeing, archery, mountain biking, climbing, paddling on the lake, and time on an inflatable obstacle course. Campers also spend time watching sunsets, creating art, roasting marshmallows by the campfire, and joining in songs, chants, and dance parties.
• Ages: 6–17 years old
• Schedule: Overnight camp sessions in 2026 run on the following date ranges: June 7–12, June 14–19, June 21–26, June 28–July 1, July 5–10, July 12–17, July 19–24, July 26–31, and August 2–7.
• Price: $10/person for TumbleFun Days on June 13 and July 11, 2026 (registration required).
YMCA Camp Tumbleson Lake offers day and overnight camps that celebrate exploration, nature education and a personal connection to the outdoors, with options for campers ages 6 to 17 including Explorers mini camp, traditional camps, teen expedition and leadership programs, family camp, and Tumbleson Day Camp. The camp features a lake-top obstacle course and hosts TumbleFun Days at approximately 9,000 feet elevation. YMCA Camp Tumbleson Lake is owned and operated by the YMCA of Northern Colorado and is part of the YMCA tradition that opened America’s first known summer camp program in the 1880s and has been making summer special for nearly 140 years.
For the past 18 years, the YMCA of Northern Colorado leased the Camp Santa Maria property, and in 2024 it purchased its own camp property in Boulder County and transformed it into YMCA Camp Tumbleson Lake. In 2024, the YMCA of Northern Colorado held day camps at YMCA Camp Tumbleson Lake, and in 2025 it launched overnight camps there.
The vision of YMCA Camp Tumbleson Lake is to get kids outside to build character, make friends, and have fun. Its stated mission is to provide a community where kids gain skills, become more independent and learn to grow with others while having fun.
YMCA Camp Tumbleson Lake is owned and operated by the YMCA of Northern Colorado, a nonprofit organization that focuses on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. YMCA Camp Tumbleson Lake operates under special use permit from the USDA Forest Service, Pike and San Isabel National Forests, Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands, and is an equal opportunity service provider and employer.
