About
SUP Camp Boulder focuses on stand up paddleboarding, including both flat-water paddling and whitewater paddling. Campers practice specific safety and rescue skills such as swim rescue, recovering a lost board, and towing an injured paddler. SUP Day Camp campers should have some previous experience paddling in standing or moving water and must feel fully comfortable on open water and being fully submerged in water for short periods of time.

Under the guidance of highly trained instructors, all staff are 18 and older with safety and skills training, and the organization states that it hires committed, experienced instructors with impeccable credentials. Every activity starts with a discussion about the risks involved, how to prevent them, and how to respond if something goes wrong. The camp is backed by the Avid4 Adventure Guarantee, which includes a promise of an authentic outdoor adventure, incredibly well-trained and professional staff, and increased confidence for campers, and if Avid4 Adventure does not meet its promises, the next Avid4 Adventure camp is free.
Avid4 Adventure states that it believes in the transformative power of the outdoors and that at Avid4 Adventure kids build confidence, make new friends, and master essential skills in activities like paddling, biking, rock climbing, and hiking. The leadership team includes Founder David Secunda, a former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry. Avid4 Adventure is a Certified B Corp, is accredited by the American Camp Association, has been named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps, and operates under a Special Use authorization from the National Forest Service, with a stated commitment to public transparency and accountability as a Certified B Corp.
Avid4 Adventure describes itself as the home of multi-sport adventure, with programs that evolve as campers grow from age 3 to 17, and notes that its summer camps are highly acclaimed and that it recognizes itself as a premium camp committed to paying educators a fair wage. One parent, Emily Medress, reported in September 2023 that this was her daughter’s favorite camp, that her daughter had never done any of the activities before, and that stand up paddleboard, kayaking, and biking became her favorite activities; she also stated that her daughter learned to ride a bike without training wheels during camp and that Avid taught her so much. Another parent, Molly Marienthal, stated in September 2023 that her child begged her to join to see what she learned each day, described Avid’s staff as mature, responsible, and excited to share their passion with kids, and called it a well-run program where kids learn new outdoor skills. A third parent, Suzanne Dayton, stated in September 2023 that her kids had the best time at the camp, still talked about it over a month later, could not wait to go back next year, and that she appreciated that they were active every day and learning how to enjoy everything Colorado has to offer.
