About

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Summer Camps offer summer camp adventures that share the wonders of wildlife and wild places in fun and exciting ways. Campers meet animals up-close, explore the outdoors, interact with keepers, make treats for the animals, and design cool crafts. Activities include live animal presentations, games, Zoo hikes, time with nature, and quests through the Zoo’s exclusive 40 acre nature trail, which is reserved for campers and teen program participants in certain camps.

• Ages: 5–13 years old
• Schedule: 2026 Summer Camps run June 1 – July 31, with full week camps for Kinder – 8th Grade offered June – July

In 2026, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo will turn 100. The stated goal of the summer camp programs is to instill and foster a lifelong love for nature and animals, and to introduce or develop lifelong passions for activities that tie youth directly to wildlife and wild places. Through live animal presentations, games, Zoo hikes and time with nature, camp mentors help children provide a link between people and the natural world. Offerings include A Wild Summer Experience for Kinder – 8th Grade, Classic Camp where campers meet the Loft animal collection up-close, Camp WILDER as an immersive nature-based experience on the 40 acre nature trail, and a Middle School Camp that combines inquiry and nature-based experiences on the same trail. Minimum camper age is 5 years old, and campers should be fully potty trained and registered for the grade they will enter in the fall.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that donates admission tickets for fundraising purposes to many qualifying community organizations and schools each year. Its Community Access Program – Zoo for All provides free daytime admission tickets to community nonprofits serving under-resourced populations in the Pikes Peak region. Every visit to the Zoo contributes 75 cents to programs around the world that help endangered animals, totaling more than $500,000 per year. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has been ranked in the top ten zoos in North America for the last ten years by USA TODAY’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards, and in 2025 it was named the #2 Best Zoo in this annual contest for the first time. Leadership includes Bob Chastain, President & CEO, and Dave Ruhl, executive vice president at CMZoo, who has been announced to step into the role of president & CEO on June 12.
