Avid4 Adventure states that every activity begins with a discussion about risks, how to prevent them, and how to respond if something goes wrong. Campers are grouped by ability level for biking, and stand up paddleboarding is described as a crowd favorite. Mini campers take part in tasks such as learning to live in a shared space, making bunks, keeping areas clean, being kind and helpful to cabin mates, and making new friends. Camp traditions include dance parties and games, and campers are led by designated instructors who lead, camp, and eat with the group. Avid4 Adventure provides access to top-of-the-line gear specifically sized for kids and uses professional-caliber equipment for activities such as mountain biking, kayaking, and climbing.

Avid4 instructors are described as incredibly well-trained and professional staff, all 18 and older, with serious safety and skills training and a strong interest in adventuring and working with kids. The Camp Blue Sky Director, Garrett, has experience as a group counselor and Program Director for YMCA Camp Edwards, holds a B.A. in Secondary English Education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, has led programs in Texas and the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and joined the Avid4 Adventure leadership team at Camp Blue Sky in 2019. Avid4 Adventure was founded by David Secunda, a former president of the Outdoor Industry Association with 25 years of experience in the outdoor education industry.

Avid4 Adventure states that its mission is to give kids a love of outdoor activity and to ensure the future caretaking of the planet, aiming to set kids on a trajectory of lifelong outdoor adventure and stewardship while building their skills, confidence, grit, and determination. The organization describes its programs as evolving with campers from age 3 through 17, including progression to first summer jobs. Avid4 Adventure is a Certified B Corp, its summer camps are accredited by the American Camp Association, and its camps have been named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps. Avid4 Adventure operates under a Special Use authorization from the National Forest Service and is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

The Overnight Mini Camp is described as a 3-day experience for 3rd to 4th graders and as an introduction to a sleepaway adventure, with each day including adventure sports and intentional activities that build confidence, foster friendships, and encourage independence. Mini camp is described as the perfect first step for campers and parents to feel more confident in future adventures. Avid4 Adventure transports campers to authentic local recreation areas and provides professional-caliber equipment. The camp is backed by the Avid4 Adventure Guarantee, which promises an authentic outdoor adventure, incredibly well-trained and professional staff, increased confidence for campers, and a customer experience that exceeds parents’ expectations; if these promises are not met, Avid4 Adventure states that the family’s next camp is free.

Parent testimonials describe Camp Blue Sky as a “magical place,” note that campers have called it their “favorite camp,” and mention kids learning skills such as riding a bike without training wheels and trying new activities like stand up paddleboarding, kayaking, and biking. Parents also describe Avid4 staff as mature, responsible, and excited to share their passion with kids, and they report that their children stayed active every day and continued talking about camp long after it ended.
